Biography

Leigh Whannell was born on the 17th of January 1977 in Melbourne, Australia. Having always held an interest in the media arts Leigh aimed high producing many short films in his early years. He was accepted into the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology's prestigious Media Arts course at the age of 18. It was here he met his partner in crime and best friend James Wan.
In his second year of college Leigh landed a role as the 'film guy' on the hit underground TV Show 'Recovery' and had the oppurtunity to interview great minds such as Tim Burton and Peter Jackson. While this work continued after finishing college Leigh was always aiming to make his and his friends dream come true, they just wanted to make a movie. After landing a few minor roles in movies such as 'The Matrix Reloaded' and getting rejections for others like 'Lord of the Rings' Leigh realised the only way the duo would create a movie was to fund it themselves.
After 9 months of writing a script and the shooting of a promo the movie 'Saw' was accepted into Hollywood ensuring that their original $40 budget grew to 1.2 million. Proving his acting worth as co-lead, Adam we can hope to see much more from this promising Australian on both the acting, writing and producing scene.
